The Maple Leaf
The Maple Leaf é
o jornal mensal do Canadian English
Centre.
Desde o seu primeiro número em junho de
1995, ele tem sido instrumento de informação,
promoção, educação
e cultura canadense a serviço da nossa
escola.
Além dos seis últimos
números, você encontrará aqui
a primeira edição do jornal The
Maple Leaf. No seu formato atual ele traz informações
sobre o nosso método, ou sobre as novidades
da nossa escola, sempre homenageando o nosso Student
of the Month [aluno do mês]. Você
também encontrará no nosso jornal
as Tips on English Idioms [dicas
sobre expressões idiomáticas inglesas],
para melhorar o seu vocabulário além
de muita filosofia na nossa seção
It's True [é verdade].
Sendo a nossa escola um
centro de cultura canadense, o nosso jornal sempre
traz informações sobre o Canadá.
A propósito a folha do ácer [maple
leaf] é um dos símbolos nacionais
do Canadá, sendo usado na bandeira nacional.
Além disso, você
encontrará notícias variadas tiradas
de publicações norte-americanas
e canadenses. Estas notícias têm
o objetivo de proporcionar ao aluno prática
adicional de leitura sobre assuntos interessantes.
Você também se divertirá a
cada edição com a seção
Pause for a Joke [pausa para
uma piada], e saberá qual é a nossa
programação para as aulas de prática
das sextas-feiras.
The Maple Leaf tem muito
a lhe oferecer. Aproveite!

Expansion Plans
uring its ten years of existence, the Canadian
English Centre was forced to turn away thousands

grown.

New Exams
It is true that the Canadian English Centre does
not believe that one huge, hard final test can
thoroughly evaluate a student’s knowledge
of the English language. There was even a time
when the CEC experimented with a version of its
method that had no tests at all.
